The newly-formed International Science Council has met for the first time at its founding General Assembly in Paris. A new board was elected at the meeting, with South African mathematician Daya Reddy announced as President and New Zealander Peter Gluckman as President-elect. The International Science Council is a merger of the former International Council for Science and International Social Science Council. The Council is set to champion both the natural and social sciences, providing a unified voice to respond to the scientific and societal challenges of the future.
